Programs & Activities

Fun and educational STEM, robotics, and coding programs using LEGO bricks and technology. Covers engineering, robotics, coding, science, and arts through after-school programs, summer camps, and workshops. Half-day and full-day camp formats available.

Newtown Square Youth Basketball runs recreational leagues for boys and girls ages 5–14 through Delaware County Parks and Recreation. The winter season runs December through February with Saturday morning games at local school gyms in Newtown Square. Volunteer coaches receive training through the National Alliance for Youth Sports.

Dunwoody Village Children's Art Studio in Newtown Square hosts Saturday art workshops for children ages 5–14. Projects rotate through painting, printmaking, sculpture, and fiber arts, with themes drawn from art history and local culture. Classes are limited to 12 students for an intimate, studio-style experience.

Newtown Square Swim & Racquet Club offers learn-to-swim and swim team programs for children ages 3 and up in Newtown Square. Summer swim lessons follow American Red Cross curriculum from beginner Guppies classes through competitive stroke refinement. The club's swim team competes in the Suburban Swim League each summer.

Newtown Square Junior Chess Club meets weekly at the branch library for players of all skill levels ages 5–16. USCF-rated instructors provide puzzles, lessons, and guided games to build critical thinking and pattern recognition. Monthly rating tournaments are held on-site for students wishing to earn official chess ratings.

Fall flag football league for kids in Newtown Square organized by Newtown Township Recreation. Teams learn the fundamentals of football in a safe, non-contact format with experienced volunteer coaches. Games are played Sunday mornings at township fields.

Community youth soccer league serving Newtown Square and surrounding Marple Newtown area. Recreational and travel divisions are available for players of all skill levels. The club emphasizes fun and player development over win-at-all-costs competition.

Recreational gymnastics classes for children in Newtown Square at Gymfinity Athletic Center. Programs range from parent-child toddler tumbling to competitive prep classes for older kids. Qualified instructors guide students through USAG-based progressions in a well-equipped gym.

STEAM enrichment classes, summer camps, workshops, and birthday parties for ages 5–11 using LEGO® bricks and technology to teach Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics including robotics, coding, and design challenges.

A spring bird banding program at the Rushton Conservation Center in Newtown Square. Families and kids can observe and learn about local bird species up close.

10-week summer day camp for children ages 5–15 at Camp Garrett. Activities include swimming, art, archery, sports, hiking, gardening, and a farm-to-table educational garden. Nonprofit with scholarships ensuring no child is turned away for financial hardship.
