My daughter started learning to play the keys 3 years ago. It's been an excellent experience for her. Her teacher (David) was great and really personalized the lessons for her. She also joined the show program which was really amazing. She gained a ton of confidence from it and had a lot of fun. Rob Grodin, who runs the program, is great with the kids and you can tell he's really enthusiastic about the music himself. I would highly recommend SOR Newtown to any parent looking to make music fun for their child.

My 12-year-old son had a blast at Classic Rock Rewind Camp! He enjoyed learning new tunes and making music with other kids. My son liked this camp so much last year that he returned for more this year. The counselors were great, nurturing his love of music and giving him more challenging guitar parts this year, commensurate with his developing skills. We enjoyed the end-of-the-week performance -- it was impressive how many songs the kids were able to learn in just a week! Thank you for a terrific camp experience.

School of Rock has exceeded my expectations in every way and is an amazing program. Not only do they teach your child how to play an instrument, but they also teach them how to perform and play with other musicians. My son plays the keys and it's just been the best experience. There is no such thing as a boring music lesson there! The shows are amazing too and we look forward to going each quarter. School of Rock is worth every single penny.

Our son has been at Newtown SOR for six years now and we couldn’t be happier. The talented staff obviously share a passion for music which translates to the students development. They continue to provide opportunities for our son to play live and grow as a musician. We highly recommend this school!!

Update (11/15/25): My daughter has been a student from the ages of 11-17. The program, teachers, staff and experiences in music and performance for young people are unparalleled. This has been her second home where she has learned an incredible amount and made some of her closest friends. She has developed more confidence and character, considered kindness, and the desire to coach others and be a mentor to younger students. As she has graduated high school her time with SORN is coming to a close. She is still taking lessons but has aged out of the performance program. I anticipate she will want to continue adult lessons and maybe even join the adult band. She misses all of the group work and social time. The school is great for kids and I definitely recommend it. I, selfishly, miss all of the performances, parents and teachers too. This was a big part of our lives for a very long time. I’m happy she/we were a part of the experience. Check them out! β€” My 14 yr old is in her 4th year with SoR Newtown. The teachers and staff are like family and watching the kids make lifelong connections with other students is fantastic. The range of genre experiences, shows and the house band offer so many opportunities to expand knowledge and truly be not just a solo performer, but learn the dynamics of group performance. My daughter is a singer and her skills grow each year. All the teachers are also actively performing so there’s a lot life experience in their lessons. I wish we had SoR when I was young!
