7 months agoI went the other day with my 82 year old friend to see the new DOWNTON ABBEY movie. It was such a great movie!! And neither of us knew anything about the series, having never seen it! The whole experience was lovely - wonderful people taking our tickets, friendly folks at the concession stand (and reasonable prices!!!!!!), and such tidy bathrooms. I loved that there is a sink in every stall. My friend and I sat in the handicap seating and just thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!! Wonderful experience all around!!!!!! We will be back to see more movies at BMFI!!

2 months agoGood evening Google Family. I visited for the first time today to view the film, "Sentimental Value." My movie showtime was 4:15 pm. I promptly arrived in a Lyft. I entered the film institute and showed them my movie ticket. I was early so I left and walked to tap MAC. I needed some added funds so that I can continue to ride LYFT since I am not moving my car because of the snowstorm. I go out in the morning using my vehicle and I come back early so that I can get a parking spot in my block because of the recent snowstorm that we had. Some people on my block still have not dug out their cars and there are limited spots available. Also some people are marking their spots with chairs and cones, and frankly, I do not blame them. You take the time to dig yourself out and then someone comes and takes your spot and they have done nothing. After I tapped MAC, I went to CVS to reload my prepaid card. I had a delightful transaction there. Then I decided to walk back to Chopt Creative Salad Company to purchase a salad. I opted to craft my own salad. The salad there was so delicious and the service was top-notch led by Tarik H. the manager. Then I walked back to the Bryn Mawr Film Institute. When I arrived, I encountered Ed Peach who worked there. Ed was so so nice and friendly and he gave me a coupon for a free popcorn and a free drink. I thanked Ed profusely because that was so nice. I remembered to ask for the assisted listening device and June, the manager assisted me with the device. I chose the closed captioning option. I thanked June and then I went into the Auditorium, which was number 1. for Sentimental Value. I settled in and arranged my items on the seats. I always opt to sit way in the back. I placed my blanket around me and took off my boots and got comfortable. The only thing missing was reclined seats. There are no recliners here, so I could not get as comfortable as I would have liked. I placed the assisted listening device in the cup holder and the movie started. I had some snacks with me and I enjoyed eating them while watching the movie. The movie was okay. It is not a movie that I would recommend to others and I would not see it again. My experience here at the film institute was good, just not top-notch because of no reclined seating. When the movie was over, I visited the rest room and it was nice and clean. I loved that the stalls in the rest rooms had their own sink with paper towels, soap and a soap dispenser. It also came equipped with a mirror. You certainly do not see that everywhere. Also the Bryn Mawr Film Institute is a quaint place, it is really a gem. I liked the Pinwheel Cafe that is in the institute. Such a delightful place, with some pretty delectable smells. I enjoyed my experience here today. Have a goodnight, workout, be active and mobile, fit and fabulous especially for people over 50 years of age. The film institute also comes equipped with a concessions stand that offers popcorn, candy and soft drinks. Also I wanted to mention Alex who works here. Alex was very helpful when I showed him my movie ticket on my phone.

a month agoGreat theater in a great historic town. Any theater that shows Eraserhead in original 35mm is a winner in my book.

2 months agoWhat to expect: No commercials before the movie begins. A nice new cafe attached. First run movies. A Saturday matinee at 11 for children. Discounted tickets for members, and more. A real βmovie go-erβ experience.
