🎒 School Age Programs on the Main Line
Ages 5–12
Elementary school age is when programming on the Main Line gets particularly rich. Township recreation departments run organized sports leagues, after-school enrichment, and structured summer camps. Lower Merion Recreation, Radnor Township Parks and Recreation, and Tredyffrin-Easttown Township Recreation all run substantial programs for school-age kids.
Summer is peak season. Day camps through the YMCAs, township rec departments, nature centers, and private providers give families dozens of options. Programs tend to fill by April, particularly for the 7 to 10 age bracket, so registering during winter is worthwhile if you have a specific camp in mind.
Year-round activities include travel sports, theater, music lessons, robotics clubs, and art classes. The public library systems run free after-school STEM programming that is genuinely underused. Wayne Art Center, Main Line Art Center, and YMCA arts programs are the most consistent options for kids who want structured creative instruction.
